Some vintages are born at the wrong time. 1991 followed the hyped 1990 harvest and the market showed little interest. Ironically, some people now think that 1991 is the superior vintage. The same might be true of 2010. Thanks to the superstar status awarded its predecessor, 2010 seems destined to be overshadowed. However, tasting the 2010s from barrel was a startling experience. Next to the dark, brooding 2009s, the 2010s are vibrant and refreshing. They are packed with sweet red fruits and have beautiful acid structures. The whites are similar in quality and style. In twenty years, 2010 might turn out to be the more prized vintage.
